Set up

1. Download Nightwatch Relay and move it to Applications. Open it; a moon appears in the menu bar. Choose Start Relay.
2. In the relay’s menu, choose Set Up Hooks and apply. Restart any running Claude Code or Codex sessions.
3. Choose Pair a Phone and scan the QR code with the iPhone Camera, then open the link in Nightwatch.
4. Optional: turn on Away mode in the relay menu or the app’s Settings to approve Claude Code permission prompts from the phone.

The phone can’t reach the Mac

• The iPhone and Mac need to be on the same Wi-Fi, or both on the same tailnet.
• Allow local network access: iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → Nightwatch.
• Check the relay is running: the moon in the Mac’s menu bar should say “Running”.
• If you reset the relay, pair again from Pair a Phone. The app refuses a relay whose certificate changed.

Sessions don’t show up

• Run Set Up Hooks again; it reports whether everything is in place.
• Restart Claude Code or Codex after changing hooks.
• Codex reports when a turn finishes; Nightwatch shows it as working while its session file is being written.

The Lock Screen doesn’t update while the app is closed

• Open Nightwatch once after pairing, so it can hand its Live Activity to the relay.
• Check Settings → Live Activity is on in the app, and Nightwatch is allowed Live Activities in iPhone Settings.

The menu-bar moon is missing

On MacBooks with a notch, macOS hides menu-bar icons that don’t fit. Remove or rearrange other icons (hold ⌘ and drag them off) to make room.
